Have I mentioned I love chickens? It has been aweful nice the past couple of days. Instead of staring longingly out my window this afternoon I decided to grab my Chinese Inks and go hang with my birds.
They thought whatever I was doing was mighty suspicious.
I received my award in the mail from Society of Illustrators of LA! The Night Ferry won the Gold Award - Student in Illustration West 51. More here!

I conceived this for a digital illustration workshop I was supposed to teach today at Endicott College walking through my process. I may actually write a story for this piece.
I wanted to wait untill I was done posting my holdiay magnet collection to post this news. My piece, The Night Ferry, won the Gold Award and the $1000 Phillip Hays “I love it. I think it’s terrific.” Scholarship in the Society of Illustrators of LA Competition, “Illustration West 51”. Previously, the piece also was an official selection and winner of the $1000 “Shrunken Head-Man Scholarship” from the Society of Illustrators 2012 Student Scholarship Competition.
This piece really means a great deal to me, and it always has attracted a lot of attention. Here’s to what the new year will bring me in my work.
